Igbo Kwenu! Get in here for your Ofe Oha!

I've always thought soups from other tribes were complicated and confusing... I never even tried to leave my comfort zone of Yoruba soups as per a comfam Yoruba babe. I have even argued in the past with my friends from the east on the topic of how good these soups taste. Well, I see clearly now.

I have tried to Google which tribe has the best soup but it seems that this topic has been an age-long controversial one (like that of the Jollof). I however think the Igbos and the Akwa Ibom/Calabar people are leading in this argument.

This post is about my Igbo people’s Ofe Oha or better still, Oha Soup

Ofe oha is an Igbo cuisine made with Oha leaves and coco-yam as thickener. The cocoyam can be substituted with ofor/achi

Ofe Oha is similar to the bitter leaf soup, the difference is that we use different vegetables (bitter leaf/ Oha leaf) and the taste. I have made bitter leaf soup before, so it was a walk over.

My Superior Ẹ̀fọ́ Riro

I am happy for the lovely feedbacks, comments and encouragements I got from my last post. I feel encouraged. Now that I know that my husband and I are not the only ones reading this, I will like to declare this blog,  "our blog". This way,  it will be our collective duty to keep it enjoyable. That is to say,  our suggestions and innovations are welcome.

I will like to tell the story of the first soup I made as Oyinades Kitchen. Like I mentioned in my first post, my first customer ordered 3 soups namely, Efo Riro, Afang Soup and Okro Soup. I will like to share my Efo Riro story.

Ẹ̀fọ́ riro is a Yorùbá cuisine prepared with vegetables and stockfish, palm oil, crayfish, pepper, locust bean and may also include meat and other ingredients (Wikipedia)

Even though,  it wasn't my first time of cooking efo riro, I was nervous because this time, the outcome of the eforiro could determine the future of my baby business.  I had to bring out my notebook from culinary school and even supported with google.

First of all, introduction!

I am Oyindamola Adekunle. I am a cook. Cooking for me has always been a hobby and walahi i never thought I could do it professionally.

I studied Agricultural Engineering and worked with an E-commerce company for a while but I resigned when I could not cope with a new condition of work. I started looking for paid employment but it wasn't forthcoming.  During this period, my husband had encouraged me to start a business but I was reluctant.
